#086 Culture Case Study on e.l.f. Beauty
Happy New Year!!
This week I look back at 2024 (and 2023) and look toward the future, sharing my vision and areas of focus for the new year.
One significant part of my mission, which I intend to prove this year is the connection between culture and increased revenue.
In this episode, I highlight a Harvard Business Review article written by CEO Tarang Amin of e.l.f. Beauty on "Maintaining a Startup Culture While Scaling." I break down their Mission, Vision, and Values, the alignment with THRIVE Culture framework, and applaud their mantra, “One team, one dream”
In the article, Amin shares that they measure success based on employee engagement scores, not share price growth or revenue. And, by that measure (and others) they are successful. 90% of employees say they are very or extremely engaged and 98% say they would recommend e.l.f. as an employer.
This team has gone from $40M to 1B in annual revenue from 2022 to 2024 and their employee engagement score has not changed. They have posted 22 consecutive quarters of net sales and market share growth, exceeding $1B in their 2024 fiscal year!!
Kudos to this team and the success they are seeing by putting focus and intention on their culture.
